Ho-hum

It's Friday afternoon and another workweek is done. No I'm not jaded, just a little bit sleepy from not having much work to do in the office. It's not that I want to, but Friday is typically a slow day at work. Besides, my boss and some of our program counselors are out-of-state giving orientations to newly arrived teachers from different corners of the globe. It would be nicer if I could fly with them for a few days. Pero isa ako sa taong bahay kaya medyo bored.

I might as well blog a little bit to utilize my extra energy. I must not allow any nonsense thoughts in my already weary brain. For days I've been squeezing my little head thinking of a moneymaking online business. I am doing some diligent searching on the net and hopefully something interesting and hoax-free will pop up.

Wild Olive Leaves

Olympics revisited it's birthplace Greece. Like a migrant who's been away from his home country for a long time, pulsating with life, interest and excitement.

The welcoming embrace of it's culture induced the whole world to come together and participate. The dramatic walk of the red centaur in the water and the parade of historical floats were so magical. But there's nothing as exciting as seeing the mythology characters which once became a part of my few reading pleasures.

Let me highlight also the nice pride the Philippine delegates brought not just to me but to our country. I may be thousands of miles away, we may not bag as many medals as we expected to have, but seeing you take part in this wonderful event is already a merited respect. USA keep up the good work, I cheer for your efforts and to the rest of the world, your presence are appreciated.

Match Made in Heaven

It's more than a week now since I bid goodbye to my singlehood. It's about time. I couldn't deny it was a challenging journey for me, almost like a roller-coaster ride. But  the good experiences will surely remain.

My poor heart used to sit on my hand, all scarred from the past relationships I had. Amazing how it resisted the pain successfully.  I travelled thousands of miles, struggled through time, bewailed at the sound of love songs.  But love truly works in a mysterious way. Love brought me to these realizations:

1.) Every God's creation has his/her own match.
2.) If two people are meant to be, notwithstanding the time and distance, they're meant to be.
3.) Love is beautiful when shared with the right person.
4.) There's something magical about love. YES, trust me on this.
5.) Can't force love to happen. It will come naturally at the right time, In God's time.
6.) It's a gentle touch beyond skin-deep.
7.) The knight in shining armor is real.

I finally met my match and this time I could tell we're tailored in heaven.
I am a wife now to a wonderful man and I feel really special. Its special to wake up in the moring in my sweetie's loving arms . To shower each other with warm hugs and kisses. I feel special to be the one preparing a nice meal for us to share.

Love, the sweetest thing.

My Own Reflection

I remember when I was little, I watched every bible story on t.v. during Holy Week. Among my favorites were Adam & Eve, Ten Commandments, Noah's Ark, Pan Y Vino, and more about the life of Christ. Yes, I am a Catholic.

The other night, my boyfriend and I went to see the Passion of the Christ. From the reviews I heard, I really expected that the movie would be of weighty import. The theatre was packed with still viewers. It seems like nobody wanted to get distracted nor distract somebody else.

Honestly, I was nervous. My heart was pounding hard when the film started rolling.
The first scene was dark and in slow motion. It's very striking. All I heard was a deep-seated voice uttering foreign words. Then there's His image kneeling on the ground in the Garden of Gethsemane. A great deal of restlessness was so evident. Who would feel relaxed when you already knew that you only have 12 hours to live? We should not forget that He became human and being one means being vulnerable to fear and pain. But despite all that, His faith remained intact and He's dauntless enough to expose His identity to His captors.

Traitor. Judas Iscariot sold Him to the Roman authorities. How painful could it be to trust and care for someone in your own inner circle and soon betrays you?

Christ performed some miracles from the time of His captivity until His death. I never doubted. I know a miracle could happen to me too, in His time.

Every change of scene gets more painful.  The Scourging at the Pillar was one of the heaviest sorrows. Seeing the soldiers unrelentingly lashing Him again and again until He almost bled to death. Where is mecy? I was moved to tears while holding tight to my bf, who was quiet the whole time. From the other side of my eye I could see the guy to my right clenching his arms. There were strings of sighs. Then again, silence followed.

Another very moving scene was The Carrying of the Cross to the Calvary. Mother Mary requested John to bring her close to where Jesus was. Right before her eyes, she witnessed Him fell to the ground, all bloody and in terrible pain. I'm not a mother yet but I know that the last thing a mother wants is to see her child in pain or danger. My mother kept me safe from harm, just like what Mother Mary did for Jesus. But some things are inevitable and no matter how our mothers wanted to protect us, they're powers are limited and some events are not in their full control, no matter how they wanted to save us. Still the truth is very obvious, what our mothers want for us is what's BEST.

Christ suffered and died on the cross for us. No other love could be greater than that.

I know in my earthly life, sufferings will always be a part of my survival. I've encounterd my own  Judas Iscariot, my own Pontius Pilate, my own Roman secular authorities, my own temptations lurking around ready to eat me anytime I get so weak. But still, nothing is more difficult  than the passion of Jesus.

Christ's resurrection gave me hope and with this, I know I'll be alright.

Old Songs Never Die

Friday night of 2004. I'm currently glued to VH1 and enjoying the 80's music countdown. The world sounded so young.

» Rock Me Amadeus.  It's eccentric to see Mozart rockin'. I maybe too late, but just found out that Falco died years back of car accident.

» Vapor's Turning Japanese. Said to be the song with unknown meaning for years. Unveiled. It's about a man's facial expression while having erotic stimulation of his ding-a-ding.

» Spandau Ballet. The band in suit. The type of guys who would take you to fine dining.

» Whip It! Oh yeah Devo, whip it good! Watching the video done 20 decades ago seems so brand new.

» Chambawumba in Tubthumping. Such an infectious beat. Radicals outside. Environmentalist inside. They did rock for a cause.

» Cars. Don't get confused here. It's not just about cars, it's also about becoming a human synthesizer. How interesting can that be?

» Play that Funky Music White Boy. Still a wild cherry.

» Nothing Compares 2U. Shaved head but pretty face NO MORE for the craziness she did. I heard that she tore the Pope's photo in SNL. Yeah, nothing compares to her.

» Ring My Bell. Sounds playful. It makes my imagination go wild. Opps, sorry. But really, this song really rings a bell!

» Dee-lite's Groove's in the Heart. Retro from head to toe.

» Nena. 99 Luft Balloons (Red Balloons). Impressive how this German band expressed their protest against balloons. Well, they're not literally talking about the toy balloons but  about bombs.

» Ice, Ice Baby. Vanilla Ice. The first white guy I heard rapping. Remember the hairstyle...the notorious wave, the streak. At the time he was pretty i-c-y. This song captured the hearts of the young party goers.

» I'm Too Sexy. The fishnet shirt. The shaved heads. The catwalk. This UK singer's voice is oh so sexy.

» Tainted Love. Techno sound that's what the critics said. Hmm, electronic sound but not fast. Was it the p-a-m! p-a-m! beat that made it to the category? I guess so.
